bio & vita

Originally from England’s Lake District national park, my undergraduate education took place at Oxford University, where I was a member of Wadham College. I graduated in 2003 with a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.

After college, I worked for the Equal Opportunities Commission [Comisiwn Cyfle Cyfartal] in Wales. The EOC, which worked on gender equality issues, was disbanded shortly after I left (correlation, not causation) and became part of the new Commission on Equality and Human Rights.

From 2004 to 2009, I was a graduate student in the Department of Government at Harvard University. I graduated with a Ph.D. in Political Science in 2009 and joined the University of Delaware’s Political Science and International Relations Department. I am also a faculty member at the Center for Political Communication at UD.

In my “spare” time, I work with Philadelphia’s Animal Welfare Society and am an avid reader of modern fiction.
